This bank holiday weekend saw London’s first Street Food Festival down on the Southbank as part of the 60th Anniversary of the Festival of Britain. Looking at all the different vans/stalls in attendance and the variety of food available, i’m really hoping this isn’t just a one off. London has some great street food vendors and the number seems to be growing, which is a great thing for the city. It’s a perfect event for the summer and I hope to see it back on a regular basis. The food ranged from pulled pork from Anna Mae’s Smokehouse, to chocolate treats from Choc Star, and Malaysian chilli beef from Stewed and Baked.
There were so many tempting choices, but in the end I went with a Balti Burger from Bhangra Burger and I have to say I made the right decision. It tasted fantastic, just the right level of spicing and the chutney and salad added a real freshness. I could have easily gone back for seconds! And because I can’t resist churros I had to make a quick visit to Churros Garcia to finish my day on a sweet note.
If you missed it this time, make sure to check out the vendors websites to see where else in London you can catch them, you won’t be disappointed.
